Love in Christian Perspective
A Christian may have a strong desire for marriage, but I highly recommend the writings of Elisabeth Eliot to be of great encouragement during singleness. I recommend Quest for Love for stories of Christian couples’ romance. There’s a story there about the great missionary Hudson Taylor’s love story. Also, I recommend it ultimately so that you will realize that you are not alone in those struggles and feelings, mistakes and moving on.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a link to a free copy of her book in the Internet. I hope you can find her book in your local Christian bookstore.
For Filipino Christians
For Filipino Christians I highly recommend the books of Pastor Hiram Pangilinan. He writes about the long-held superstitions of Filipinos and the creatures of Filipino horror stories in his recent book. He also has a book on revival. I highly, highly recommend his ministry and books for the Filipino audience. He writes in a very approachable style that will make you just sit down and enjoy the book like you can almost hear him.
This is a link of OMF Lit. that shows more info on his book about evil spirits in the Philippines:

Here’s an excerpt from the book:
Pastor Hiram’s other book, What if God Comes?, is about revival and is also available in PCBS. Here’s the website of his church, Church So Blessed:

There are many free videos of Pastor Hiram in Youtube, so please feel free to explore. He has a surprisingly simple, balanced style that keeps you listening. Here’s a sample:
From Christian Equippers International
Here in the Philippines we have Christian bookstores called Philippine Christian Bookstores or PCBS, and I highly recommend for Filipino Christians reading this blog to find and buy the small, inexpensive booklets written by Christian Equippers International on various issues in the Christian life. I highly recommend those booklets helpful for young people such as “What The Bible Says About Sex”, “Single And Serving God”, “Breaking Bad Habits”, and others like “Raising Christian Children”. There are many others. CEI does not have those booklets freely distributed on their website, but they do have samples of their publications which will give you a glimpse of the very organized, neat way they present Christian teaching. They are like a Christian consultancy that gives seminars on various topics that are very important and essential to understand in the Christian life. Here is the link to their free excerpts:
Random Thoughts
Did you ever wonder how you, as an “ordinary” Christian can be effective for God? Well, let me give an interesting random thought. It’s in a Filipino perspective, however, so I’ll use the currency of peso. Here it goes…
Do you have 50 pesos? It may not seem like much, right? It may not be enough to even buy a nice meal, or a nice book, or even be enough for transportation fare.
But.. what if 1 million “ordinary” Christians with 50 pesos to spare put their 50 pesos in a savings fund once per week?
What will happen? They will earn 50 million pesos every week and in one year (52 weeks) they will earn …. 2.6 BILLION pesos!
Assuming a property for a typical church building costs 50 million pesos. Then in one year they can purchase 52 church buildings! I read in Wikipedia that as of February 15, 2011, the Philippines has 138 cities. What if we put one church building in each city (assuming we are able to purchase 52 church buildings & properties at the end of the year), then there will be only 86 cities to fill. Then next year only 34! Then in the third year, all the 138 cities will have church buildings for born again congregations! And if the number of cities increases, no problem! As long as there’s money, we can buy more church buildings!
What’s the point of all these random thoughts?
Well, it’s to realize that the Church indeed is to be the head, not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13). The Church can change the nation not through wanting more and wanting more, but through giving!
